  • The tasks of the Marine Environment Reserve Directorate
  • Preserving the marine environment and preserving marine and coastal natural resources in accordance with the Authority's law, the Aqaba Marine Park system, and the instructions issued pursuant thereto.
  • Raising the aesthetic value of public beaches and their waters
  • Maintaining public safety in the park by following up on public activities, monitoring users, and providing guidance and assistance services to visitors
  • Applying the necessary procedures to control all development, scientific, tourism, recreational, navigational and commercial activities, private and public, within the areas of the marine park and its surrounding areas, to ensure that they do not negatively affect the natural resources and the aesthetic value in it.
  • Participate in granting environmental approvals, evaluating environmental impact studies, surveys, applications, studies and reports submitted to the Authority regarding coastal and marine projects in particular.
  • Implementing programs for the rehabilitation of coral reefs and other natural resources that may be damaged by various activities or any other factors, and following up the development, updating and monitoring of these programs, and transferring coral affected by the establishment of major projects and re-cultivation
  • Facilitate the conduct of scientific research and supervise it to avoid any negative effects arising therefrom
  • Follow-up and supervise the implementation of various control programs for the marine environment and its components within the marine park and keep the results of these programs within a special database in order to follow up on any changes and the negative effects that may result from them that may destroy, damage or deteriorate the natural environment or harm wildlife or marine life or compromise the level aesthetics of the park areas
  • Cooperating with international, regional and national bodies related to the management of protected areas and the marine environment, managing coastal areas, developing methods of coordination, cooperation and exchanging information between public and private bodies related to the goals and objectives of the marine park.
  • Follow-up and coordination of all projects and activities of the regional commission for the conservation of the environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
  • Monitoring and following up the implementation of the requirements and conditions for licensing diving and water sports centers and regulating their work
  • Providing hydrostatic and visual inspection services for diving cylinders, cleaning them and other services related to diving
  • Provide the requirements related to the necessary infrastructure of basic public facilities and services on the beaches, follow-up and maintain them to serve visitors and citizens.
  • Inspecting coastal and marine facilities within the boundaries of the marine park and monitoring their compliance with the legislation in force
  • Organizing and dividing the waterfront on the beaches into areas with specific uses and determining the conditions, restrictions and procedures applicable in each area
  • Carrying out marine works related to defining areas of use and installing and maintaining what is necessary for that, including mooring buoys, marine markers, floating lines, and others.
  • Contribute to conducting an assessment of the damage that may be caused to the environment as a result of various activities and accidents, and contribute to the rehabilitation of damaged resources and combating pollution that may affect the marine environment
  • Control and release violations and take the necessary procedures in accordance with the provisions of legislation, laws and regulations in force, in coordination with the competent security authorities
  • Supervision, follow-up and implementation of campaigns to clean the seabed and seasonal and emergency diving sites on the beaches in accordance with the instructions in force
  • Collecting financial fees for managing, operating and maintaining the park’s facilities and equipment, and using the facilities and services provided therein, in coordination with the Finance Directorate
  • Cooperation and coordination with the concerned directorates with the aim of spreading awareness of the importance of the marine environment and its elements and the need to preserve and protect it
