Development of Residential Neighborhoods

 

The Department aims at increasing the participation of citizens in decision-making regarding their needs and working with them as partners to meet these needs, as well as building their abilities and skills in order to benefit from the growing opportunities in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and to work with them as effective partners to improve their economic, social and cultural reality.

Functions of the Neighborhoods Development Department

  • Conducting a field survey to survey the needs of the neighborhood and name the members of the volunteer team (the district development team) and then analyze its results and prepare a list of needs.

  • Inviting the residents of the neighborhood to meet in an open year or focused working groups

  • Determine the most important priorities for the neighborhood residents and complete the selection of members of the volunteer team (the district development team), which will represent the neighborhood in working with

  • Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and all partners in order to translate the needs of the neighborhood into projects implemented according to priority.

  • The neighborhood development team, after a variety, will map the neighborhood's assets, build a neighborhood vision and translate the needs into project proposals

  • Implementation of the highest priority based on a referendum for the residents of the neighborhood.

  • The neighborhood development team is working on developing the project's implementation plan and implementing it in cooperation with all partners related to the project and according to its nature.

  • Following the implementation of the first project, the neighborhood team will develop a long-term plan for the development of the neighborhood including priority projects

  • Population over the next five years and potential partners to implement these projects and develop their operational plans.

Adding and reconfigure neighborhood teams

  • The implementation of field surveys to add neighborhoods (Housing Association and Salahuddin) where the Youth Committee and the staff of the Department of Neighborhood Development to survey the needs of these neighborhoods and to see the status of the description and the gathering of leaders of citizens to work with them to implement projects that meet the needs of these neighborhoods and development.

Development Initiatives Programs

  • Following-up development initiatives that are implemented based on the needs received from the districts according to the development directions of the Authority where follow-up and holding meetings with partners required both within the authority or official institutions.

  • The implementation of courses for children aged 8 to 18 males and females in the Center for the development of neighborhoods to develop their talents and develop their own skills to achieve and enhance their talents and confidence

  • Holding the calligraphy course at the Urban Development Center / Urban Village

  • Supporting the winter camp for the Al Hassan Youth Award, which is keen to rehabilitate young people and develop their expertise and enable them to serve the local community through the implementation of activities within the city of Aqaba in the Princess Salma Park and the Haya Cultural Center and the visit of the Museum of Aqaba and the number of participants 150 participants and provided the Authority material support and logistical and technical cooperation with Quad City Services

  • Giving a training course entitled Painting in color and the number of participants 11 males and 39 females.

  • Implementation of painting course on colored cloth for 11 males and 20 females. • Implementation of the painting course on pottery for 12 males and 17 females.

  • The implementation of 3 courses of the Arabic calligraphy because of its benefits to the child in improving the line at the educational and personal level.

  • assigning the academy's private school to teach the Arabic calligraphy

  • assigning a painting course on glass to children in the urban village for males and females.

  • Participation of neighborhood teams in meetings with decision-makers: meeting the neighborhood planning committee with the city commissioner to prioritize

  • Distribution of asphalt mixtures into neighborhoods As the city commissioner listened to the needs of neighborhoods of the infrastructure to develop the city.

  • Participation of some members of the neighborhood teams in a national workshop on the involvement of local community and stakeholders in monitoring the coastal environment at the College of Aqaba University.

  • Participation of some members of the neighborhood teams in the first consultation session of the project to dismantle the main port with the Directorate of Environment.

  • Participation in the Legal Guidance Office in the Betty Project and the Office of Legal Guidance with the Women's Committees Caucus.

  • The participation of the neighborhood teams in the radio program "Qul Wa Fa'al" which is broadcast on the Voice of Aqaba radio station, which highlighted the effectiveness of the development of neighborhoods and the role of the members of the neighborhood teams in the development of community based on active and positive participation.

  • Participation of some district team members in the awareness-raising program of the National Accelerating National Disaster Risk Management Development Project for seasonal floods.

  • Participate in a training workshop by representatives of neighborhood members entitled "Know your project right" at the gathering center of women's committees.

  • Holding meetings with the director of the Aqaba Water Company to find solutions to the problems of Al-Shami neighborhood and holding a meeting with the Director of Education regarding some challenges in Al-Karama, Al-Shamiya and Al-Radwan.

  • Maintenance of lighting poles in Al Karama neighborhood. • Participation of Al Karama and Al Shamiya in a free medical day as part of the charity campaign for the Jordanian Hashemite Fund.

  • Implementing a free medical day in Al-Khazan and Al-Shalaal neighborhood in cooperation with Aqaba Health Directorate, an initiative aimed at raising health awareness

  • The risk of diabetes , blood pressure and a group of students of the School of the Great Arab Revolution volunteer and help.

  • A campaign was carried out to remove the rubble in the neighborhood of Radwan by the cadres of the Directorate of the city services center .

Training courses for voluntary neighborhoods and youth committees

  • Holding a social stimulation course for Al-Karama and Al-Shamiya by 10 hours of training for two days in the neighborhood / village development center

Community Awareness Program

  • Implementation of awareness-raising sessions in the neighborhood of Al-Shamia with the Association of Umm Al-Mu'mineen Al-Abrar and included lectures in human development:

    • Skills of dealing with adolescence, motivational courses (valuable crops harvested).

  • Giving awareness lectures in schools within the community awareness program.

  • Implementation of community awareness murals within the schools of Aqaba.

  • Presentation of the play Azutna unity in the Qawaira Brigade Jordanian Hashemite Fund was executed another theater show in the city of Aqaba on the scene of the martyr Moaz Alkasrapa.

Management of neighborhoods Development Center in the Urban Village

Loan Portfolio

Lending Procedures

  • Receiving applications from the project owner.

The achievements of the neighborhood teams

  • Installing umbrellas for the Rabieh Elementary School for Boys based on the authority's tendency to give the educational process the greatest attention and implementation of the executive plan
