The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority is actively implementing the GREENMEDPORTS project as a partner, funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The project runs from June 2025 to June 2028 with 89% funding from the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
GREENMEDPORTS promotes sustainable, low-carbon, and resilient port operations across the Mediterranean by improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon footprint, and introducing innovative solutions. It includes a Carbon Footprint Platform to monitor emissions and a Green Label Port certification for long-term sustainability aligned with EU climate and energy objectives.
The project is coordinated by the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority in Italy, and brings together partners from across the Mediterranean region, including:

GREENMEDPORTS is shaping Mediterranean ports as leaders in sustainable maritime development, with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, together with Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management as an associated partner, implementing practical green port solutions to advance low-carbon, energy-efficient, and resilient port operations and support environmentally sustainable maritime transport.
